Cheap, big fuck off sliding compound mitre saws

Cheers mate, but I need one with a sliding facility, I have a few projects in mind. The Makita linked to by @BobC upthread is perfect for my needs.

And, typically, the 12" Makita has been withdrawn from saleā€¦:rage:

Iā€™ll be wanting to do a few bits and bobs over the next few months, Stu, so Iā€™d rather have one in the garage.

Cheers Stu, thatā€™s a good one, but I really want a 12" blade, thatā€™s an 8" one.

Ah,should of read your post better.

Buy a chainsaw, put on a hockey mask and chase Claire round the house with it. Sheā€™ll soon forget about the decking and you have a great story to tell down the pub.

Sheā€™s hard as fuck. If I tried that, I guarantee Iā€™d end up with the chainsaw at full tilt up my arse.

Sorted now.

I got an ex demo SIP like this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SIP-12-305mm-Belt-Driven-Double-Bevel-Compound-Sliding-Mitre-Saw-Laser-240v-/172145385878?hash=item2814aa2196:g:BekAAOSwIgNXlx33

Came in at Ā£145 with next day delivery and 12m full warranty.

Plus the seller is reasonably local, so if it breaks, I donā€™t have to send it halfway across the country to get it sorted.

I know itā€™s not a Makita or Festool, but for my purposes, it should be fine.

Was going to link a sip one yesterday but hadnā€™t heard of them
Seems a very good price.

Iā€™ve heard of them, even seen their kit at places like Machine Mart, seems to be mostly aimed at the budget end of the trade/hobbyist market. The kit looks decent enough, and pretty solid, if not as refined as the Makita/bosch/etc offerings.

Got to be better than B&Q or Wickes stuff, or even a site chippyā€™s worn out cast off kit.

For the occasional project it should be fine.

Seems like a good deal at that price :+1:
