eBay stuff (Part 1)

I’m quite aware it’s a pile of steaming shit, but at the time (when I was young and foolish, oh and 10 years old!) I thought ‘what a great idea!’.

Consider a cartridge upgrade, then look at power supply

Combined drinks cabinet & radiogram. Seems like a dastardly good idea!

I’ve seen this item in the flesh a couple of times. it is quite an interesting piece, very reminiscent of or similar to the Gale. I do wonder whether the guy who made it had been commissioned to make the prototypes.

I say! Ding dong!

Good luck finding a Gale TT, as there were very few made, something like 60 and most of those are now in the far east. It’s not a brilliant TT, but it looks nice.

I recall seeing (& hearing) one at the Audio Centre in Sheffield back in the 80’s.It looked great for its time,Back then there was only the odd Michell & perhaps the Win Labs that used perspex whereas now such designs are far more common. Sadly, despite the appearance and high price, it didn’t actually sound that good.

Radford Hi-Fi in Bristol had one for a while in the early 1980’s, where I bought my first LP12 / Ittok / Asaka new and Rega Planar 3 /Supex SM100E new. Compared it against the LP12 and Pink Triangle Mk1 with a PU3 / A&R P77 and it wasn’t in the same league. Probably the horrible SME 3009 Mk2 it had on it. God I hate that arm, having owned loads of them, I still have one on a Michell Focus One.

Hmm, it did seem that Linn’s dealers took a special interest in having one there as a tool to sell LP12’s.

I love the sound of Ureis… I’d buy these in a flash but no way I could get away with them in my lounge, alas. :frowning:

Hi,
I can remember seeing that deck in the early 80s as well. They had it in the window. Looked impressive. Never had heard it.

Very, very good pre-amp.

Where the bloody hell is Tavistock?

Google maps indicates that it is near a place which rejoices in the name of “Chaddlehanger”, which doesn’t bode well at all, IMO.

Very close to me. Chaddlehanger is a tiny hamlet, maybe a couple of farmhouses. If youd like me to go & check them out or just collect and send, drop me a pm (although I won’t be back there til tomorrow evening.

Thanks very much for the (very) kind offer. If I could persuade SWMBO that these would be a major improvement in road safety then I might even take you up on it.

But let’s face it, it’s unlikely :frowning2:
