eBay stuff (Part 1)

On what?

Both.

You’ve got enough tat, try selling stuff instead :joy:

Meh selling is over rated. It’s an investment.

Oh really, must make a mental note not to follow any investment advice from you in the future!

It will leave you more money to buy that crap you listen too. :innocent:

Very kind. Doesn’t matter how much it leaves you, as you can’t buy taste

Look at this on eBay:

conrad johnson LP140M Monoblocks Power Amplifier

The Citeh and Chelski model eh?

would this be in the same league as the Gamut D200, or should I hold out? It’s just had a price drop, so very tempted as my gear has started to sell also…

Guessing it might need a once over/service.

Ignore the price which looks steep to my eyes, but love this deck

TT Porn !

I would have thought the Gamut is slightly better, but differences in power amps like this are relatively small, compared to say speakers.

Thank you, would allow funds to go towards a better source, got my eyes on a BP DAC…

A couple of us have the BP Dac, whereabouts are you based?

I am in Warwick, in the process of sorting amps but I know I need a better digital set-up, from what I have read the BP seems like a no-brainer.

The BP is a valve output NOS DAC isn’t it? Not sure it would be my cup of tea. I would certainly try it before buying, it won’t suit all - tastes and systems.

You can use the DAC with or without the valve.

Not valve output, it’s valve rectified that can be switched in or out, switched out it’s running on solid state, apparently when the valve is switched in it gives a boost to sound quality.

Gary Dews recommends leaving the unit on and only engaging the valve when listened to.

Ooh cool, so it’s all in the power supply. I’ve always found that very important in digital kit.

It’s a shame they use NOS though. I think that a lot of tweaky companies do this because digital filters are difficult to understand and have impacts that are difficult to measure and correlate to the sound quality.

Bottlehead were going to do a DAC with John Swenson doing the digital, did that ever take off?
