That is a lot of valves if they need replacing.

just what i thought.

But lots of choices at sane prices. Should drive the Se8s nicely too.

EL34’s are prety cheap all things considered though, decent too.

liked a Prima Luna amp that I heard with them previously, seemed pretty smooth sounding. Initially might have to use a passive pre until funds allow…guy said he had best results with a CJ Prem 16.

Whenever I’ve heard EL34’s I always thought they sounded pretty gutsy and loved electric guitar

just found this to go alongside, balls to the budget.

or

actually if I could get one of these to work with a more affordable SS, as CrimsonDonkey suggests, might be onto a winner, and within budget. Have a Job 225 power amp on loan at the mo from a kind PFM friend (Disarmament), which is doing a solid job of driving my speakers, and with a valve pre could be sweet! Gain might a problem, as I think the 225 has pretty high gain.

Knock £500 off the price and you’ll be fine.

that looks like pretty good value?

£800 is good value, but 101’s are rare.

The main problem with Beard stuff is the guy that services them is a candidate for the Laughing Academy…

Don’t fucking use him then, there are many valve amp repairers.

…but only he has spare parts like transformers, numbnuts.

You can get those made arse

Only if you have the specs, ya wingnut.
