At least Coutinho is back :+1:

Klopp will need to conserve some resources to face the mighty Argyle.

Yeah, I think we will go through but Southampton should be out of sight.

So may players off the pace tonight.

Our results in January and February last year were pretty desperate - might be more than coincidence. Are the players cream crackered from half a season of the gegenpress.?

I also think that managers will try something new & different & there can be a lag while the other managers adapt their tactics to it. Once they do, it becomes more difficult & the original team often has to change again.

No, I think itā€™s a combination of injuries and our bullshit fixture calendar. Donā€™t forget we havenā€™t got a squad like Chelsea where they can bring on Fabregas and Batushyai(sp) after 70 minutes. Or recall one of their 38 on loan players.

Neither Liverpool nor Chelsea have had Euro fixtures & the travelling that entails to contend with this season.

Doesnā€™t make the fixtures weā€™ve had in the last month any less stupid.

Weā€™ve known from day one Mane was off to the African cup and without him we have no pace or directness to worry the opposition. This means they can play higher up the pitch and suffocate the area where we need to play tippy tappy football which means unless Coutinho does something remarkable we never look like scoring.

If we lose on Sunday I can see us being out of the top 5 in next to no time.

Southampton have had more games since the beginning of December. (10 v 9) As have Utd. Spurs Arsenal & City have each played 9 while Chelsea have played 8. It could be argued that this is too many games but its broadly similar for all of the top clubs. Liverpools workload hasnā€™t been notably greater.

Are you sure? We had three games in six days.

Southampton had 3 games between 28th Dec and Jan 2nd

Liverpool had 3 games between 27th Dec and Jan 2nd

Chelsea clearly had the best of the Christmas/New Year fixtures (qty, timing, location) but we have now had 3 shocking performances in a row. Even the Man City game before that wasnā€™t very good, got an early break away goal and then dug in like a Mourinho side.

*Obviously if we win on Sunday all will be rosy again.

The way these things work no doubt the Plymouth replay and 2nd leg against Southampton will go to extra time.

Southampton had, by far, the toughest schedule over Christmas & new year & really suffered for it with 3 defeats. Chelsea had the easiest run but still lost their third game of the 3.

With injuries to key players heaped on it, itā€™s been tough.

Last night was rubbish but Iā€™m not too concerned. In fact Iā€™m more annoyed about the Plymouth game, as there were some talented youngsters out there that didnā€™t live up to expectations.

We really need to sign a player in this window, but it doesnā€™t look like anything is on the horizon at all.

At the moment it appears that Henderson & Matip are the two doubts for Liverpool at the w/e.
For Utd, Rojo who, apart from some wild challenges, has actually done well played as a centre back (where he should always have been) rather than at LB.

We need something, because if the current malaise continues and we miss out on top 4 (and Utd and Spurs are looking very strong now) we can wave goodbye to Coutinho for sure (and maybe Lallana if todays papers are to be believed) and we will be back to square one just like when Suarez left.

Same old, same old.:sob:

*Obviously if we win on Sunday all will be rosy again.

No Mane either, and I seriously doubt Coutinho will start on Sunday.

Firmino is very out of sorts at the moment. Who knew that drink driving charges and getting your house robbed could affect your form!?

Angel DiMaria didnā€™t hang about long after his house was burgled & lost any form he had although LvGā€™s tactics hardly helped either.

Mane will be a loss as is Bailly who looked the best defender weā€™d had for a good while until he picked up an injury.
