Football

Oof. Must be great when you’re on gravy train like this. You can never fall off :rage:

I can’t really understand the finances of football. Why not have a clause in the contract about performance, and have that as cause for a reduced payoff when you’re fired? The whole game seems to have got itself into this spiral of increased salaries without performance requirements, it’s just absurd.

Clubs have allowed themselves to get pushed into accepting wage bills of 85-110% of revenue. They’re utterly helpless to actually manage players anymore as they’ll just fuck off somewhere else and get paid even more; managers can entirely fuck up and still have their contract paid up in full. It’s madness.

Isn’t the problem managing Agents? They drive the players behaviour. As with any business other than the likes of supermarkets who have the power to control their smaller suppliers, the purchasing department gets beaten up by the Sales department.

Nope they’re all slaves to the quite obscene amounts of money that TV has poured into football. Everything, including the behaviour of agents and players is completely predictable.

Won 2-1 after letting in a really stupid goal in the 92 min. :weary:

whose performance though - the players? the manager? the coaches? the board? who is to blame when a team under performs?

can’t see you losing it now - race for 2nd is more interesting…

In not so good days,1989.

Yes I remember. Capacity 82,905.

In 1983 they were averaging 12600 for home games.

Remember going in mid to late 70s,45,000 for the big games, but far less for many others.

That was the last year I had a season ticket. We were relegated because Gary Breen (on a free) was the only player brought in the previous summer and the defence needed an overhaul. Dailly was shite, Repka was a lunatic and suspended plenty, Winterburn past it etc, etc… Also iirc Sebastian Schemmel who was Hammer Of The Year the previous season, fell out with Glen Rodent and his performances dropped off alarmingly.

Titi Camara… HAHAHAHAHA!

A more realistic set of stats -

Saw them against Exeter a couple of years before then, still had rio, stuart pearce,Sukar etc…

Newton Heath was founded by a Liverpudlian in Manchester. They renamed themselves Manchester United and moved out of the City into Stretford in Greater Manchester. Manchester City reside in Manchester itself. Not many People know that. :hugs:
