I would like them to but the Tories are running on a Unionist ticket up here and I wouldn’t be surprised if they won several seats. That said, even if they did, the SNP might still get more than 50% of the popular vote across Scotland which would serve to reinforce the SNP’s current mandate for another independence referendum.
So you think a reduced majority for the SNP would reinforce their mandate for Indyref2?
Interesting
We live in interesting days.
They already have a mandate from the Scottish elections and from the Scottish Parliament on the specific issue of indyref 2. This is a UK wide general election and so is a different beast. I think the last virtual clean sweep in the UK general election is not repeatable and never will be repeated. They are bound to lose seats but that doesn’t need to undermine indyref 2. Provided they win a majority of the popular vote, in the context of a UK general election, it would serve to further reinforce claims for indyref2 imo.
Do you want indyref2?
Serious question, I’m not trolling, just trying to understand the general feeling up here
Yes.
Sorry, that reply was to Hermit.
The Islands more independent mind again.
I want indyref2. I want independence.
I’m doubtful that we will succeed in my lifetime but a kernel of genuine hope exists.
You want independence from the UK. Ok, I get that.
Do you want independence from Europe also?
Ideally, not a full member of the EU but hopefully in the European Free Trade Area with free movement of people etc
edit: I wasn’t going to ask but curiosity has got the better of me. Where do you stand on independence from the UK and/or Europe?
Stronzetto is our King!
New GE special edition out soon…
Oh joy, time to play pin the countries future on the fuckwit again.
I don’t want either.
…and further election news that will also be bad news for members of the AAAC
Right that’s it, I’m off spoon whittling…
