I must be strange. The look of them does nothing for me. Just large bits of tech, which, unlike turntables, make no concessions at all to domesticity. But I do like what they can do & appreciate the engineering involved so will put up with one for the results that can be got from it.

The Technics RS1700 direct drive machine is the one to have if looks are important, imo.

To add there’s a boxed NOS rs1700 on hifi shark. Yours for only 16,900 Euros.

These will be next.

Have one at work minus the valves

It’s being given a once over/service this week & I should be able to collect it just after Christmas.

Quite excited (which is unusual for me & HiFi!)

If you’re interested in the subject, this is worth a watch. It covers the older tapes (& formats) as well as the newer generation of $$$ 15 IPS tapes. Quite an engaging presenter too.

Can you play it on your Revox?

Ha ha nope! Never played it and keep meaning to get a 4 track lower speeds R2R deck.

If you’re going to Jim’s, bring it along.

Are you bringing your R2R then? Yep been dying to hear it and hoping it’s intact :grimacing:

Yes, that was the plan.
