Shiny brand new second hand things in my system today

I’ve suggested exactly the same amp to Steve :+1:

Nice amp, I’d be very happy with that for £3k

So long as you don’t drop the bastard on your toe.

That’s 42kg of pain.

Nice amp for £1500 that :+1:

Nice, but £3.9k?

Well he said 3-5k

Yeah I know, but [Dickinson Real Deal On] Is that integrated Pass really worth £3.9k? tho’? [/Dickinson off]

Not a clue  does 300w into 4 ohms though.

That is quite an old one. There are a bunch of Pass Integrateds of various sizes and ages on HiFiShark. Personally, I would rather one of the Int 30 or Int 60’s that are fully Class A.

Indeed but not quite enough power for the W8s really,

They must be shite if they need that much current up them. Get them on the end of a Gato DIA250 and save £2K.

Small with decent bass response = not very sensitive.

I mean, everyone should have horns, but whatever.

I don’t think the W8s response is any where near as bad as the numbers suggest. As I’ve said, my little MA-5s (30w class A) drive them really well and to more volume than I need.

Could a more muscular amp drive them better? Possibly. But could that heavyweight amp necessarily produce the tone and texture I get from the MA-5s?

30w vs 300w is only 10db, power requirements get extreme very quickly.

30w may produce decent volume but there is no headroom, and will likely be clipping at the peaks.

I clearly don’t listen all that loud then!

No way of really knowing without hooking up an oscilloscope, but I’d be willing to bet it’s clipping, it’s just not hugely audible until it gets really nasty.

Does your Threshold lump pump out the heat then?
