Just replaced a laser in a Sony CD player that was becoming fussy about which discs it wanted to play.
Now I’m getting a No Disc error reading. Player apart, all connections checked, player back together, CD in: “No Disc”…
Fuck this shit, I’m taking the dog to the pub.

Perhaps, but there’s no actual modern replacement for a 16A. Optical CD players are just pointless and inconvenient these days.
That’s because they sell speakers in pairs now.
Why because you have to get up to change the CD? 
Why would anyone ever want to do this?
It’s a very inefficient system for reading digital information. We now have much better ones, with better error checking and fewer errors - such as hard disks. And they don’t need to be done in real time. Really, the idea of using CDs now is comedy.
Although that would just about do an opening prog noodle…
