I would say that the power supply looks under spec’d compared to the likely competion.

Reading up apparently it was a one off that was given to Sony as a gift.

Yes, it was built with the Sony VFET (SIT) transistors that are still available (well, perhaps not any more since they became popular with DIY-ers a few years ago as they’re really teh only game in town for acquiring SIT devices).

Pass uses his own transistors (made by SemiSouth before they went bust) in his designs, but he decided to do something funky with the Sony devices.

Yes, I am shallow but I really like the casework on that.

In general he specs the power supply 2-3 times larger than required.
