Still can’t believe the money they ripped off a teenager for Christmas 1973 for that - and I still fell for it after the triple Yessongs thing in May. Still, not hard to find mint copies…
CDR2F.
That’s the first time I’ve listened to the whole album in years. Sides 1 & 2 are still very good, Side 3 I think you can tell they’ve lost the will to live before a bit more of a return to form on side 4.
Chris Squire really was some bass player.

Prefab Sprout: Steve McQueen to be followed by Protest Songs.
Both OVOC.
I still think Side 1 is the best piece. The remixed version has a longer intro which doesn’t really add much.
The style overall is more indulgent (which is good), with nascent use of sampling (not so good) and a more guitar driven sound (ultimately leading to Wakeman’s departure).
It took their recording technique of splicing segments together to a whole new level. Mostly, it works. Sometimes, not so.
Still, it’s a great album and written off by too many as nothing more than self-indulgent pomposity.
I see that as a good thing
Sure is and the first
Ha, the opposite for me
