Your first motor stories

Meant to contribute to this for a while and then yesterday I found photo of first car. This was 1969 - Ford 105E Anglia. Bought for £7.6.11. I did it up and painted a fox on the boot - it was quite famous in South London. Sold it in 1972 - being a student could no longer afford to keep it - went for £75 to an Australian who drove it up and down the Kings Road

83 Lada Niva in council orange… Great fun when it was going, but it did spend a lot of time on the back of an AA truck. Sold it for the same as I bought it for so not all bad!

Not guilty :unamused:

One of these, Fiat Mirafiori; automatic choke a fucking joke (I’m a poet and I don’t know it) and it was just generally total shite even though it looked quite good. I think Mirafiori means something like full of love. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. No. NO… Good to get it out of the system after all, these years, thanks

Mine was a B reg Vauxhall Nova 1.2 ‘Niblick’ special edition, in a delightful shade of hearing aid beige. It was immaculate and I adored it. I owned it for 5 years and put 40,000 miles on it and I loved every single one of them.

I changed it for a 2.5 litre Senator and saw it a few months later - it had been in an accident and was quite badly smashed in at the rear. I was heartbroken and furious in equal amounts.

Ooh we had a 3l white Senator with all the toys, but I was upset my dad didn’t go for the Monza GSE.

Fantastic car. Lowered with dished alloys that would look the mutts !

I bet you wish you’d kept it.

As a newly licenced, Aussie 16 y.o., it was a great car. Curtains and a mattress fitted into the back (to protect my drumkit), it was fantastic for taking young ladies to the Drive-In.

I’d have another one in a heartbeat. Just for different reasons :grinning:

Yeah, but even for different, totally cool reasons. Where is it ? I want it ?

My first car - Reliant Supervan. Exchanged it for my Honda motorbike at the Reliant shop on my way home from work on a very rainy evening in about 1973. I’d never had driving lessons or driven a car before.

Drove it home about 10 miles in the pissing down rain - oh what fun…:joy:
