The other issue with the Solana is that the recommended drivers are £100 each. But they are meant to be good, so…

I do keep the room mostly tidy
There’s only 102 different drivers in the room plus a number of waveguide ornaments

Now started an adjusted Solana MEH. The 4x mid bass mounting on rear is changed to suit JBN panel 6-1/2" driver. Also the Tweeter mount has been changed for a non captive a more flexible fitting arrangement. I need to buy a track saw to build the cabinets. Obviously there is some finger crossing hoping that the drivers will be suitable . I’m planning on installing these in my outside office.

I love the way that a new project means you can buy a new power tool, it is the way! As a related aside, the cabinet is this is small enough that a sliding mitre saw would also be OK, I think, so you can choose which power tool you want the most!

The Solana v2 has a better system for mounting the midranges with a flange, which should allow a much wider range of drivers to be used. So give it a try now, but be prepared to print the v2 when it’s released, as you should get a better result with a custom flange.

Yes It’s nice buying new tools I had a large sliding mitre saw in Germansweek but sold it for when I was renting for two years

I hadn’t heard there was going to be a MK2 Solana - But just found a long discussion about it on DIY audio. Cheers

Why would I tell you before you had printed seven of the eight pieces?

I had idle printers - Solana 1.0 is a nice little project I have used three different makes of matt black filament even on the same petal. Can hardly notice it.
Outlay for a working pair £40 in filament - The wood I have.
Ultimately and quite soon I’m going to try another full size opus12 horn

First solana mongrel - baffle set glued and part assembled

Looks good, although I have low expectations of an open baffle driver working well in a MEH! Do you have T-S parameters for them?

No I don’t have any t/s info - I realise the likelihood of it sounding great is low - It is more of a stepping stone project and side quest to help iron out problems before going all in with a MEH

Another go at an ATH OPUS 12 - 50 - This time I have simplified the slicing to reduce the component count by one and I have gone for a light weight version. - 11kg down to 7kg
