Preservation at its Peak with this one. That reminds me; one of these was used to crash test a Nuclear Flask about 40 years ago!

Number something-th in an Occasional Series of “They Don’t Name 'Em Like That Any More” pictures of unfortunately-named locomotives, the dainty inconsequential-ness of this narrow-mind… er… narrow-gauge loco one is somehow perversely apt:
Supplied new to the Dinorwic Slate Quarry in 1902, Hunslet works #779 ‘Holy War’ was the last steam locomotive to work in a British slate quarry, finishing at Dinorwic in November 1967. Now based at the Bala Lake Railway.

Who knew AnyRail was this addictive? I think I’m finally homing in on a reasonable compromise between size, complexity, and my own ability to commit to what will probably become a 3+ year project.
The big question I’m currently wrestling with is… turntable or not? Because obviously, after spending many hours designing a toy railway, the next logical step is to agonise over whether I really need a miniature rotating platform, that will be prone to failure.

I fucking love graffiti. Was an old oil storage depot I knew of and that’s where I first saw proper graffiti- not tags- proper works of art. I’ll see if I can get a link.

Funny not watched it yet but that was promoted into my YouTube feed as well. Only trouble the locomotives would I guess need to be scratch built or something made out of these which have taller cabs and different bogies. But yes would make a really interesting layout.
