It all started when I bought The Sound Spectrum compilation many many moons ago. 
(Still to this day one of the very best comps of 60’s library / soundtrack music I’ve ever bought - an absolute masterpiece.)
On it there is a track called Hurry To Me by Roy Budd which absolutely floored me (and still does) but, being the lazy cunt that am when it comes to reading sleevnotes, it wasn’t until years later I found out it was a version of an Ennio Morricone / Bruno Nicolai track called Metti, Una Sera A Cena.
Anyway at the time I heard the original Roy Budd track I was totally in love with someone who only liked me as a friend 
so it became the soundtrack to my misery 
Then Spotify happened along and I heard the whole soundtrack for the first time and 
So now I had a whole album of misery courtesy of the master of melancholy himself. It actually sounds more like a bona fide album rather than a soundtrack which I think elevated it into Superfly / Shaft territory for me at that time.
Then right at the end is an added track by The Sandpipers which adds English lyrics and it just bookends perfectly the whole thing.
Ok I’m away to wallow in my misery some more.
P.S. remember the Planet Funk song Chase The Sun ? then check out the riff from Alla Luce Del Giorno from the soundtrack.

Shit. Sorry mate, didn’t want / expect to open old wounds. Would have liked to say what a great backdrop, but it really isn’t.

Sorry Mike I didn’t mean it to sound quite so maudlin - I’ve always been strongly drawn to melancholy music which goes a long way to explain why I’m such a saddo
In the end it all worked out fine when Anne came along and told me to get my jacket I’d pulled (and yes she did say that)

Saw him live 15 years ago, knew nothing about him at the time. It was superb
My managers date dropped out so I accompanied her , she had been a German groupie, been on tours with the stones etc, that had undertones of Nico but without the habit. She was always good fun just 20 years older than me unfortunately
