Worth a listen - the whole thing sounds like it was faxed to 2024 from 30 years ago, and I mean that as a compliment. Having not heard them in a great many years, I’m astonished how well Robert Smith’s voice has aged. I’m not a fan, and this doesn’t change that, but it’s easy to see why fans are chuffed with it ![]()
I’ve never been into them, except for a few of their early singles (yes, those ones) but after the comments on here, I gave it a go on Qobuz this afternoon.
Must admit, it didn’t really float my boat, but I will give it a second listen, in case it’s a grower. ![]()
I think the bottom line is that if you are a fan you will love it, if you sort of like them you will sort of like this and if you hate them, this isn’t going to change that.
I think the remarkable thing is that a band can come back this many (16) years later with an Album that is up there with their best.
