Any old Pics - replicating google images, one post at a time (Part 1)

That is an incredible image :+1:

Must try and find a print.

Best place to start Mike - however their prints are expensive but they might be able to point you in the right direction.

The photograph is apparently from the back cover of this Mike (looks an interesting book)

That is fabulous. I absolutely love libraries and that is one of the best shots I’ve seen of a library interior. This was/is my favourite place in Dublin:

Long Room at Trinity College Dublin. I spent many afternoons in there as a student. Another favourite is the Wren Library at Trinity College Cambridge:

The exterior of the Wren is a masterpiece too.

Likewise Duke Humfrey’s Library in Oxford

It was literally over the road from where I lived for a couple of years. But it was so popular, both with students and tourists, that it wasn’t an easy place to get into or to work when you got there.

The next building along was the Radcliffe Camera

Much quieter, cool in hot weather and the outside’s pretty too, as are the stairs

I did most of my revision for Finals in there. The only problem was that it was part of the English faculty library so, unlike the science facilities (this was the 70’s) it was graced by far too many distractingly beautiful girls.

I used the libraries in Oxford extensively which I was writing my Ph.D. and worked for a while with a chap at Balliol. But I spent 3-4 months a year for 8 years as a visiting fellow at Cambridge so I am much more familiar with it.

Finished mine in 1995 though. :fu:

What? Your valve amp?

Nope, not stupid enough to want to build a 300B amp. Was stupid enough to want to write a Ph.D. though. It seemed like a decent idea at the time…
