a friend of mine used to look after a scout hut on the coast in devon in maidencombe , it just sold for 280k !! hope they put it to a good use

incredible pic , my family had a narrow miss in the blitz . they were due to leave the house on the monday but somehow left on the sunday instead . it was my grandads birthday on the sunday and a doodlebug hit the house sun pm

it caused complete devastation except for one wall on which hung a lopsided text hitherto hath the Lord helped us

later my grandad returned to rescue his birthday cake , blew the dust off it and ate it . !!!

I wonder if his thoughts were related to this event.

He was a young lad then and knew some of the soldiers that were killed. They camped on the families farm and nearby.

yes we stayed in slapton once which was taken over by the troops in ww2 , tragic how this incident occurred
