I had to look that up. It was a stunt used in Steve McQueen’s last movie The Hunter which explains the crowd of onlookers on the bridge. There was no-one in the car, you’ll be pleased to know. It was (sort of) remote controlled and they had two more waiting in case something wen’t wrong with the first try.

Indeed, although they are back. Although born in Oldham I can’t place the photo. I wonder if it’s Manchester Road looking down towards Hollinwood.
