Saturday afternoon spent reading 60’s brothel reviews is to be applauded - nice work Guy.
I mean, so effortlessly cool, until he falls off…
Beitou Hots springs is great, went a few times when I was working in Taipei. One of the few places I miss visiting is Taiwan.
Nah…He never fell off… unless acting on the Great Escape
When I was at school, a lad there would say that his uncle did the great escape stunt. We were never sure if it was true although his family was in the motorcycle parts business. Obviously the rider who did that stunt was one Bud Ekins but he did have strong links with the UK bike industry and looking into it now, it would appear that my friend’s Dad (Ted Wassell) did work quite closely with him so I guess he may have been like an uncle to my schoolfriend. Ekins had an interesting career and it does sound as if McQueen was a fairly good rider too if not quite at the level of professionals like Ekins.
I think the reason Ekins did the jump was because McQueen had a bad back (and they couldn’t get insurance because of that) although I think he did do one of the practice jumps himself (on the sly)

There appears to be a giant, all-white Homer Simpson in a Parka striding through the trees
That is fabulous
It is, but now I’ve seen Homer I can’t unsee him
Thanks Paul now I can’t unsee that.
