It’s the paradox of the Victorians too. There was wonderful stuff like this but at the same Worlds Fair there were some incredibly racist “foreign village” displays with humans displayed as curiosities. Also a chance to buy a bale of cotton from the former slave that picked it. I will venture a guess that the former slave received zero %
