I say it thrice, it’s so nice.
It’s a beautiful picture, but…
Hunter S Thompson on the left, who is the gangster on the right?
His “lawyer” Oscar Zeta Acosta
Oscar (Zeta) Acosta
Beat me to it…
Was that the lawyer who was with HST ‘somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert’ ?
The very man
Wasn’t the story that when HST’s publishers saw the draft of Fear and Loathing, in which the author plainly describes a registered lawyer committing a long series of more or less outrageous felonies, they drop the manuscript like it’s on fire ? Thompson assures them that Acosta won’t mind - he’s a friend. Eventually they agree to go ahead if Acosta signs a complete waiver, promising no legal action in respect of any of the book’s claims. Acosta is hard to find, but when they do eventually track him down he doesn’t object to any of the accusations of drink and drug abuse nor of the claims about his involvement with the young woman they come across at one point.
He does have one serious objection though. He says that he has never weighed 300lb, as described by Thompson. Somehow the number stays in the book.
Nice find Chris - I’ve never seen any of those before.
