Best Curtis Mayfield Album please?

Trying to fill the gaps in my collection. Original pressings always seem to have battered covers, guessing P-funk used to see plenty of parties. Can always find a mint Pink Floyd (ducks for cover…)

Battered covers often indicate good records. I prefer the word patina.

I have some Steely Dan albums with cat shredded spines from charity shops that play beautifully.

£1 each for early pressings.

I picked this one up in a charity shop the other day. Very nice sounding record with lots of James & Bobby Purify. Surprisingly good. £1

The Bill Withers has beautifully reproduced artwork, on attractive pale yellow vinyl. It is also warped as hell.

Somewhat overpatinated then. That’s the problem with good records. People want to pĺay them.

This is a brand new RSD repress. Sounds thin too. Joys of buying vinyl I suppose, the Parliament and Curtis pressings are excellent.

The best Curtis represses I’ve heard were from the recent box set of his first 4 solo albums, although I’d like to hear an AP version of his debut.

With some modern pressings the joy of ownership is sometimes prioritised over playability. A problem for the record listener, rather than collector.

I also have a copy of that which I also paid a pound for in a charity shop :slightly_smiling_face:

I like cats but if ever there was a reason to dislike them this is the bullseye :bullseye:

New world order is one of my faves
