The link below explains what happened but also Sam Bankman Fried and his company FTX have basically been the saviours of the crypto industry this year, buying out/propping up many large failing exchanges and companies, and pushing for greater regulation. He just got absolutely f-d by his main competitor, who ran the risk of ruining the industry by doing so. Proper Game of Thrones stuff.

Was just watching what looked like a bit of a hearing into Crypto & Sam B-Fried on TV,. They were saying that perhaps $10Bn had gone astray.
Presumably there’s some good reason why our very own financial gambler Liz Truss (who’s cost this country far more) isn’t in now custody but is instead on the US lecture circuit with other cowboys like Daniel Hannan etc.

To be fair, it is. There are different bankruptcy protocols, and one means you must step down as an MP - where there is suspicion of fraud etc. This isn’t that, it’s just a failed business AFAIK.
