Budget 2024

I frequently pretend I’m smoking on a cold day when I exhale condensed breath clouds.

That’s what going to happen to the vape shops, a bastion of the British high street will be no more. You won’t be laughing when all the ex vape shop employees are stealing your jobs.

See ya.

Ok

The market will decide how many private schools are viable. Meanwhile maybe parents struggling to find the money for increased private school fees could cut back on their Starbucks expenditure or cancel their Netflix subscriptions just as the less well off are encouraged to when they complain about the cost of living.

Was your school like Eton Chris?

Jesus Christ mate, you’re in a minority of one and the snide pop you took at Ritchie was downright nasty.

Give up on it already.

I don’t have a cogent response so I’ll just post a random emoji.

Understood.

I was laughing at your assertion that I took a snide pop at Ritchie. I was doing no such thing.

When I saw his answer I thought that he was entitled to his opinion, but that he was wrong. My statement is factual and was not aimed at Ritchie.

But, we have a number of examples of people saying how much better the education was at fee paying schools. I appreciate your negative experiences and am sorry to hear that.

Just because I am on my own, it does not mean that I can’t gave my say. I do think, that when their views are not left wing enough, that people are sometimes afraid to speak up on this forum.

I’ve got some knowledge of private schools in the south east, and I suspect they are in a very different financial position to the other 80% of the country.

As you likely know, class sizes in fee paying schools are a maximum of 16. If the increased fees lead to fewer new pupils starting at age 4, many schools may not have a future.

It appears that the general public are under the gravely mistaken tabloid opinion that they are all like Eaton.

There are no grammar schools in Wales meaning we have less choice. In Bristol / Gloucestershire they are highly oversubscribed.

There is no VAT on private health care. I can’t see a justifiable reason for the difference.

I agree, let’s add VAT to private healthcare, problem solved.

Meanwhile the Torygraph leads with an obviously informed opinion from that well known expert on UK taxation practice, Space Karen.

:grinning:

Spelling wasn’t part of the curriculum then?
