I had a 406 v6 coupe. It was shite. Understeered like an Audi thanks to the boat anchor up front which was also slower than my mates 318i estate.
Every sensor blew, the fuel filter pissed petrol everywhere and the interior fell apart within 6 months. Eventually it sprang a water leak from a hose so I just kept it topped up for the remainder of the lease, laughed furiously when they asked if I wanted to buy it for 15k and gave them the keys.
T491 TWK. The best things about it were the amazing pininfarina shape, the fantasic dark metallic green paint and the red leather seats.
The rest was an abortion.
I later in a fit of misguided optimism bought a 407 coupe which was actually worse. I now avoid French cars.
Wonderful ![]()
MOT test online shows it as currently SORN rather than scrapped.
A long restoration job? ![]()
Good luck to them. They are deceptive things. They looks amazing, especially these days where everything is an SUV or bulbous.
There’s an orange one with a terrible max power body kit and round ‘Ferrari’ lights mouldering away round the corner from my in laws place.
Chap at work has an old 407 2.0hdi Coupe, he loves it, he must do as he’s constantly fixing it……
The 407 has challenging looks compared to the 406 but the interior is rather nice with very comfy seats.
It’s not a car I lust after again, the day I halves and thirded it and dumped mine at a BCA site was a joy.
Apparently the 407 coupe shape was originally designed for Ferrari, but they turned it down. Not sure how accurate that is but that’s what I was told….?
Bloody love them and so does the Mrs. Before I took a pay cut we were gonna order one ![]()
It was the 406 design that was allegedly rejected by Fezza in favour of the 456. Pininfarina and Peugeot did have a lot of history though so I’ve always taken the rumour with a pinch of salt.
The 407 was an in house design and therefore shite.
The 406, as I say did look rather nice however it was during a time where coupes were prevalent there were 2 alfas, Audi tt, Mercedes, various BMWs, fiat, calibra, Toyota, Rover ad nauseum so while the looks got it into reviews it usually lost to the new 330ci which comprehensively pounded it dynamically or the CLK which was a nicer place to be and neither was a Peugeot.

The bus is an AEC Swift or Merlin. To me, they look the same, but one of them is longer.
The Leyland version of that chassis is called Panther. ![]()
If I’m ever in a bus competition you’ll be my phone-a-friend.
I’ll call you at the first question ![]()

Not mine, I have the somewhat boring 6 FD on my 1991 merc.
Do. It.

From a distance (and with my shitty eyesight) I initially thought this was a buffed up Land Rover.
There was also a trailer unit parked a couple of cars back, (in case the vehicle can’t quite hold all your crap).
You don’t see many Afghan hounds knocking about these days.
