Clocks on cocks (Part 1)

They’re batshit for what is a mass produced watch that by definition isn’t exclusive or rare.

They cost what people are prepared to pay

I was just pointing out that from the basis of Swiss francs and inflation, the pricing now is inline with what they were and always have been.

It works on some models even further back, I think I worked out that with inflation and exchange rate differences the Moonwatch costs now what it did in the 70s.

You’re mixing up cost and price you big oaf, probably on purpose - now stop it

But you need to double those prices to actually buy one. GMT, Daytona, submariner. Rolex short supply them so people actually think it a good idea to shell out on the white gold versions where you pay an extra fifteen grand for a few grands worth of gold.

Oh I know, I’m not suggesting anything other than the RRP hasn’t changed much inline with inflation/exchange rate. And it doesn’t apply to just the Rolex Daytona.

If demand outstrips supply prices are anyone’s guess. If you want a Randall made knife you can join the 6 year! waiting list or pay 2-3x retail. My salesman in the states used to place an order every 6 months so he had a continuous supply coming in to sell at knife shows.

A guy I work with now resells trainers, collects/resells Supreme stuff, makes Rolex prices seem sane.

I’d rather a Zenith El Primero over any Daytona, and you can actually buy one.

Me too. Such a cool movement, it has a clutch!

The hand wound ‘prime’ would be my choice

Given it’s history I’d rather have an auto, probably a rainbow fly back  the HW is nicer to look at with a display back though.

The clutch is on the chronograph seconds hand, rather than the usual method of just mashing two gears together.

The Daytona had an Zenith El Primaro movement from 1987 - 1990. After that Rolex changed to an in-house movement.

Didn’t tick as fast though

This is unfortunately true…:unamused:

Are you all rooting for this thing with its overlapping dials? Its the Liam Gallagher of the watch world,

Mine doesn’t have overlapping dials but it does have a hole. Quite a few on here don’t like it, so thought I’d post it again to annoy them

Does gas come out of the hole?

That’s three overlapping holes surely

I suspect there is something about the movement, a high beat but not special just for that. What’s with the clutch comments, can anyone explain and save the problem of googling the shit out of it?

This one.

It will in a minute - in your general direction, if you don’t shut it.

One of the first autos, high beat, column wheel.

I think I was wrong on the clutch, was thinking of the Seiko I think.

I’m trying not to blow a significant chunk of my annual bonus on this… It’s on sale £750 off in my local TH Baker…

It’s huge, which is probably why they can’t sell it… I’m huge, which is why I can get away with it…

Tell me I’m mad for even thinking it…
