If the price is actually an issue - as in you’ve (as in the general you - not you specifically) looked at it, gone, ‘Hmm that’s the watch for me, I wonder how much it is’, then the CJD has rotted your brain enough for you to think that FIVE FUCKING GRAND is a snip, a mere bagatelle for the privilege of wearing such a creation.

I always think of Waltham as making pretty average mass produced pocket watches.
Even if you find a gold cased one the scrap value is the value of the watch, the movement isn’t really worth anything.
Even then there might be a disappointment.
I once scrapped the case of a 14K example.
The precious metal merchant put it on an X-ray machine and came back and told me it measured at 13K and paid me based on that. He said that late 19C US assays offices weren’t that reliable.
The watches you posted Roger could be fantastic, but I would always have that doubt in my mind related to the brand even if the only thing remaining is the name!
I’m liking Spinnaker more and more.
It’s a lovely watch for not a lot of money.
Nice weight to it without it being too chunky- they have a couple of others I like as well

They had this one (grey ) and a green version on sale and I was torn as they are both nice but I’m glad I went for the grey in the end.
It’s hard to show in a photograph due to the glass but the face is a much darker grey - very pleased with it.
I will need to keep an eye out for for that as they do have a couple of other ones I liked.

Isn’t this the entire point of this forum? Or have I got it all horribly wrong.
I would hope that Maureen would at least PM me if there was a genuine issue as I certainly have none with him, I’m just concerned that maybe my inevitable decline into insanity has started as I could detect no reason for the reply (my post being mainly agreeing with him) or more concerning, little clever subtext which I know is present in all his insults.
