Perfectly-restored Series-1 Land Rover to actually drive; very early series Countach purely to look-at.

Enjoy your glorified Mercedes my woolly chums!

but as dear old Uncle Joe (stalin) said ā€˜Quantity has a quality of it’s own’

As for that Patrizzi Daytona and other ā€˜defective’ watches, I’m going to call the next ā€˜big microbrand thing’ as being custom lacquers and finishes that degrade uniquely over time. Why it hasn’t already happened I’m not sure. The whole bronzo thing has rapidly reached the sub Ā£100 mark I want a dial that’ll be fucked in 10 years time. You know what? Fuck it, stick it in a bronze case on a stinky nato and it’d be a lot of peoples perfect watch.

Lol, Rolex is no more quality than any other mid priced Swiss watch. The difference in value is marketing alone.

As for smaller brands, yep, some tank but many no more so than most mid priced Swiss watches in percentage terms and way less in monetary terms.

Shhhh… if you let the lemmings in on the secret they’ll all start buying good watches and then the price will go up.

Handy for making some cash from flipping though. Unfortunately the entry fee is now eight grand.

Not quite

Ā£5150 = Explorer
Ā£6450 = Submariner
Ā£7450 = GMT

What model is that? It’s lovely.

Where you can you buy a sub for £6.5k?

I bought one from an AD for that in March this year.
Submariner Date is a bit more expensive at £7300

AD?

Authorised Dealer
Like this one, prices are on the website (apart from the ultra expensive ones).
All prices are fixed by Rolex and are the same in any AD

Ah cheers.

PS the correct nomencleture here is ā€œdealerscumā€ or ā€œdealercuntzā€

I am pretty sure it is a Oyster Perpetual 41

That is more often applied to Grey Dealers who charge what they like

It’s not where you can buy one.
It’s which dealer will sell you one.

Here we go again.
Go into the shop and talk to them.
I did and had no issues.
There is a waiting list for all sports models but they are available

I’m in the process of selling-off a chunk of my horde, so far two of the most expensive made me small profits, three broke even, two made small losses, one lost nearly Ā£100 because you can buy it new for fuck-all now. Those that remain will mostly go for +/- a few quid of what I paid having given me a good deal of pleasure along the way.

I deplore the ā€œit’s an investmentā€ mentality, joyless and crass as it is, but luckily the clowns and loadsamoney barrowboys are obsessed with a few models from a few brands, leaving masses of equally good or better watches for the rest of us :ok_hand:

Believe me… I have tried.

The big city dealers just take a name and add you to the list they post up the chimney every year. I suspect the smaller ones offer a more personal service.

I might be able to buy what’s left. But I won’t see a new one in anything vaguely close to what I want. I know you managed, but it’s an exception.
