My own personal bug bear is the god awful trend of heavy handed outlines around the markers and the hands on a lot of modern watches.
It just looks clumsy and lacks subtlety/ elegance to me but then I’ve always liked the blob painting of lume of 60s dive watches.
On the BB ceramic it’s less of a poke in the eye than other designs (yes you Rolex) but I still think its goes against the stealthy aesthetic that the rest of the design pulls off very well.
As a blind old cunt I like the thing you don’t - depends on the watch mind: high-legibility belongs on a tool watch, but not a dress watch, obvs. Some makers do mix and match these things rather badly…
If there is one thing I hate doing it’s switching bracelets in and out but this looks to have a nice quick release system. That would certainly make me consider the bracelet but I would still buy the rubber strap as well. It’s got all the right dimensions for me which is huge plus. Not too big for a diver at 42mm and not too thick at just under 11mm. I haven’t kept any previous CW watches that I have bought before but this looks like it won’t disappoint. Will probably get one.
Good to see the ‘trickle down’ of technology
Vacheron Constantin followed by AP have had a quick change system for a few years now.
Makes life easy for the wearer but not so much for after market strap suppliers.
Nor for people who have a drawer full of straps they like to use,
They just keep upping their game - 10mm thick for a 300m dive watch is up there with the best, and delivering all these features for under £1K is frankly remarkable. Nice.
