Cocks on clocks (Part the Second)

I really like that dive watch.

It’s an absolute festival of Speed…masters in this week’s Subdial releases. This subtle little number at a mere £135k is the headline release;

There’s also this chest wig friendly gold number.

But, once we’re past the really spendy ones, it gets interesting. Highlights of the 15 (fifteen!) in the release are a natty moonphase one;

A Tintin

A Japan Racing

An Apollo/Soyuz anniversary

An Ultraman

And this natty bastard I’ve never seen before

Just gone through a few watches to see which will hang up least on my shirt sleeve now it is cooler and I have a knitted pullover on all the time.
Christopher Ward trident fitted the bill nicely. I notice on their site they no longer sell the exact model I have but it certainly is a sensible bit of design making it comfortable and readable too.

Just been giving myself a stern talking to, to no avail.
I have a ‘dive watch’ hole in my collection, quite fancy one with a blue bezel and since owning a GO PanoReserve I have slightly fallen in love with the brand.
I am in London for work next week and have made arrangements to go and have a look at one.

(Also comes with a metal bracelet option)

These are not cheap and rarely found on the secondary market.

Then up comes @Myrman 's post in classifieds for his Tudor Black Bay with blue bezel.
A lovely watch. The specs are more or less identical, both meet my criteria to fill the hole in my collection and the Tudor is a quarter of the price of what I might expect to pay for a SeaQ (if I ever find one second hand)

My head says this is a no brainer, send Nick a PM.
My heart says ‘but it is not a SeaQ’

I know that if I bought the Tudor that thought would always be nagging at me.

Bloody infuriating hobby!

No offence to Nick but if it’s an either/or then you gotta go GO :+1:

I’m going for a stroll down Bond Street on my way to the pub this afternoon.

Do you mind me asking who carries them in London?

The reason I didn’t crap on his sales thread.
I think the BB is excellent value

I concur with Guy, it would be the GO for me, mostly because I’ve never been a lover of the Black Bay’s hour hand design. Obvs, YMMV.

I was finding it a right pain to find them, so emailed GO.
There are very few ADs in the UK.

  1. Chisholm Hunter, Glasgow & Edinburgh,
  2. Watches of Switzerland London (Oxford Street & Brompton Road) or Manchester,
  3. Berry´s Jewellery York

Watches of Mayfair in Shepherd Market are not an AD, but offer a decent discount on OG but only carry a limited stock. According to their website they have the 43mm SeaQ Panorama in stock but not the 39.5mm version I would like to see.

Totally agree.

I’m only being semi-flippant when I suggest that you could treat yourself to a watch shopping mini-break in (say) Munich.

I’ve just realised that GO will have lost their main representation here when Wempe on Bond Street shut.

don’t want curb your enthusiasm but do you not own a sub?

Used to.
Sold it about a year ago along with my Explorer.
No longer a Rolex owner :grinning_face:

I didn’t realise you had punted them.GO all in!

I had no idea Rolex had made a desk clock

I do like that it’s as expensive as the wrist watch version. Also love that there are no movement photos as a quartz clock looks crap no matter how fancy the plates that cover it are. Although I’m interested how they integrate the date mechanism as the date on the face will follow the correct date on the rear digital display and change with leap years and shorter months.

So this or ten second hand atmos clocks :person_shrugging:

Lovely watch, I know you like your bracelets, but it works very well in that blue material strap

It’s all a good read but this bit;

According to archive records, it was manufactured in 1943 and sold on February 22, 1944, in Budapest, Hungary.

Part of me wants to meet the man who, with several million heavily armed Russians hoving into view, woke up one February morning and said ‘right, time to buy myself a bitching perpetual calendar chronograph’… but part of me doesn’t.
