Cocks on clocks (Part the Sekonda)

Like that a lot Mike - looks well on you :ok_hand:

A couple of cheap beater watches courtesy of AliExpress. I swapped the standard velcro straps out. Less than £25 per watch including a strap upgrade.

Seiko battery replacement?

I’ve got a Seiko watch (7N42-0CN0) that has been sitting in a drawer for the last 7-8 years that I want to sell but the battery has run out.
I don’t want to spend £60-80 on a full battery and pressure test as that is pretty much all the watch is worth. Is there anyone out there that can just put a new battery in for a tenner or would I be better off just selling it with a flat battery?

Not a photo of my watch but same model. Mine is a bit more worn - nothing too bad but it was a daily wearer for about a decade.

Take it to Timpsons if it is a cheapie

Timpson’s or diy it as long as it’s not a kinetic or solar.
There are probably other places that can do it too.

Looked at the Timpson website but like all the other places they seem to insist on doing a full pressure test as well and charge over £80.

Will just stick it on eBay with dead battery.

Try and find an independent , just had a battery put in my Briston , cost me £8.99 compared to £20 at timpsons.

It arrived. Mrs P likes it. :+1:t3:

Yes that is her arm!

Buy the battery and diy. Or ask a jeweller with a workshop.
Timpson may just do in house cheap without the guarantees.

371 or SR920SW is the battery you need. But it will be a screw back so you need to find someone with the tool to open it. You can’t do it at home without the tool.

Most local jeweller types would probably do it and not pressure test it if they aren’t too corporate. At the end of the day it’s your choice if you want it pressure tested or not and take the responsibility of not knowing if it still conforms to its original depth rating. Makes sod all difference to it telling the time.

do it yourself, it’s quite easy. I did the battery on my Omega myself without any problems.

If you have a squash ball, warm it up to make it grippy and see if that will unscrew the rear cover.

That’s a fair point, squidgy balls do sometimes work if you have one lying around. If not super glue a nut to it, use a spanner and then when finished acetone the nut off. This is a bit risky mind

be careful not to get your skin caught in the bracelet links though

Stick it in the post to me and I’ll sort it, I can get the backs off most things due to owning a plethora of quartz watches. I can’t pressure test, but can make sure it’s adequately watertight, I’ll PM an address.

Just slip it under @Jim’s buttock

New chronograph just out from Damasko - DC96 - aesthetics from their currently-moribund DK100 3-hander range, with updated font, and of course, centre minutes chrono function.

Blue dial, please!

If we are airing our obsessions this just dropped from Bratva favourites Ulysse Nardin.

I really, really want it as it’s sparkly and does moon things but at 13k it’s not going to happen soon though.

How about this for £4.5k
