Covfaffe - the road to despair, calling at futility and disappointment

I seriously doubt the Niche is any better than the Feld 47. You need a knackered Rancilio instead.

So Feld47 and bigger latā€™s then?

Sounds like a world of faff and steam burns :adhesive_bandage::slightly_smiling_face:

About right!

Will find out when I take the niche over :face_with_monocle:

Ah, but I only have the standard Feld.

Ok, getting somewhere with espresso now. Just made a long black/Americano with this, that tasted like decent pour-over. Got more coffee foo coming this week to hopefully push it even further on. :crossed_fingers: Coffee gear is currently impinging on my vinyl budget :persevere:

If only you could achieve that kind of thing without using a machine

If I was Pete, Iā€™d say; that isnt the point I was making, numb-nuts. But Iā€™m not, so I wonā€™t.

I think I got the foam blob size the wrong way round!

No matter what I try I seem to be getting really acidic or sour shots.

Followed Markā€™s @browellm advice and

18mg coffee (red brick) ground with aergrind between 1.0>1.3
8 secs preinfusion
36-38 grams out in 30-35 secs
Tap water is classed as hard and pH is 7.3

Are you filtering your water? If not start that, good for taste and improves machine life.

Do you have a naked portafilter? You can check if you have channelling issues to see how good your puck prep is.

Hmm, try what dom said and maybe increase your liquid out to 40g.

Are you getting a nice flow to the shot?

The machine has a filter in the water tank.

Yep naked portafilter with an IMS basket

I may be pressing too hard but the flow looks ok, thereā€™s no splattering etc.

Iā€™ve just finished a bag of Red Brick and had really nice results from it. Have you pulled an over extracted shot yet, just to get the taste of it?

Think it may be this ^^

I push down with the tamper as hard as I can and give it a few turns as I thought there wasnā€™t really a limit to the pressure.

Just tried pressing fairly lightly and it tastes much better, certainly much less acid.
