Covfaffe - the road to despair, calling at futility and disappointment

I dunno… coffee everywhere in London. I was up in Muswell Hill area yesterday and passed 2 cafés with bags of beans. No time to go in and look. I did get this from a café just behind West End Central in Savile Row though. They also stock/serve Assembly which is generally excellent I had a bag of the one they had, a couple of weeks ago, so got the Plot .

Coffee coffee everywhere…

Yeah, don’t mean to sound basic (says he who just admitted he’s fucked up all his previous purchases by not waiting long enough), just that I don’t consume that much relatively (avg. a 250g bag / month), so want to make sure I spend wisely - and have generally enjoyed recommendations on here.

That Plot looks good.

Thanks.

P.S. just saw Dark Arts have a few London locations so will def check them out - they look interesting.

Tempted by a different grinder

But not sure what, I would like to go flat burr so I have been looking at this:

Anything else to consider?

I was thinking the same but lower level df54

I have a df64, I’m pleased with it.

Visited today, I had a nice washed Ethiopian as a pour over and the wife had some Macha latte abomination. The pourover came with a card explaining the beans, roast etc

The coffee was lovely and they had four very different options, espresso wise they had two on the go. They were using this distribution tool on all of the espresso after weighing the dose before using an automatic tamper.

Was incredibly trendy with all of Lewes most vegan looking hipsters present.

Would go again for the coffee and buy beans, but would avoid the weekend as it was rammed.

Cheap alternative :slightly_smiling_face:

Very nice. I will be ordering something next week.

Just having my second cup of the day, of this Kenyan from Horsham. Take this with a pinch of salt as I’m pretty sure my taste buds aren’t up there for getting the notes described but, this stuff is excellent in my opinion.

The type of aftertaste you’d get from a blackcurrant, though smoother I’d say. I went a bit finer on the grind setting with this second cup (pour over) and have really enjoyed both cups.

Sirinya (Thailand) from Origin is bloody lovely. Thought I would delay my subscription and buy another bag of that but it’s £25 for 250g non-subscription!

Plot twist. I was about to open the Kenyan Ngugu-ini when a package arrived - a surprise from my wife:

I’ve made two pours so far, on slightly different grind settings. Have to say I can’t taste any of the tasting notes but it is delicious.

P.S. think this is the second anerobic (sp?) I’ve had (not sure if this is ‘proper’ anerobic as say, this one was) which I’ve enjoyed - maybe this is my jam, as it were.

That article is completely at odds with what I understood to be a long black.

I could be totally wrong as names get reappropriated all the time, but essentially I thought it was a Lungo - coarser grind with a higher ratio extraction to give a volume not dissimilar to an Americano (albeit slightly smaller than what chain coffee shops dish out).

They seem to be describing making a shorter Americano. All over the place that article.
