Covfaffe - the road to despair, calling at futility and disappointment

Another interesting Hoffmann video.

There is a sliding scale here, and part of it is down to machinery.
Without doubt Mark is making better coffee than I have ever had in a shop.
It does depend on the shop, but even I have realised that my morning coffee is better than anything I could buy in the chains. Partly because I am probably starting with better coffee in the first place, but also because of the evolution of domestic machines and grinders.

This looks like an interesting machine, almost scary what it seems to be able to do for the price:

They even bought in Professor Denzil Dexter for the video!

Ordered, thanks, and this one, which looks interesting: Best of Rwanda • Red Bourbon • Anaerobic Natural • Rwanda

I, along with dozens of other influencers, spent ÂŁ265 on engagement farming.

Yeah, meant to say pardon the clickbait. The interest for me was that there was a £265 coffee to start with. I am curious to see what it’s like.

Not worth £265 is what it’ll be like.

ÂŁ260 of marketing/wankery and ÂŁ5 of coffee.

This is excellent, got a feeling they’re going to cost me

200g bags

Yeah… annoying! The coffee is great, though. Thanks for the recco. :hugs:

PS I have not yet looked up what Pomelo is :joy:

Possibly worth noting if you drop a kilo, you effectively get 5 bags for the price of 4.

You’d be brave to do that before sampling 200g though!

I’m too much of a coffee tart/butterfly for that!

Looking at their sub now!

It’s a very large citrus most closely related to the grapefruit. If you’re ever tempted to buy one, just remember they’re about 25% skin (it’s really thick).

Best served with salt.

Just had my first try of this. Interestingly they say to wait 2 weeks post-roasting on the packet, which seems like quite a long time.

Anyway, can’t say I caught any trace of the blueberry and vanilla tasting notes (yes yes I know) but it was really nice. Probably the smoothest coffee I’ve had in a long while, and it tasted a little floral/delicate. I drank the cup pretty quickly, which I never really do.

I heated the water to about 95C, but given it seems quite a light roast, will try closer to 100C next time.

Thanks for the rec.

It’s not at all. Light roasts will benefit from 2-4 weeks minimum and you could go 6 weeks depending on how light.

Which grinder do you have? Can’t remember…
