Covfaffe - the road to despair, calling at futility and disappointment

Mellow was easy just swept up any custard powder that had fallen on the floor and put it in a jar.

Kenco was tough, had to roast beans

Was trying some of this today (Son bought a couple)

Very hipsterish with nitro widget. At least it isn’t particularly sweet. Seems pricy though.

Just realised I’ve had a jar of cold brew sat in the pantry for about 2 weeks now. Should probably check on that!

Edit: Coffee isn’t meant to be fizzy, is it?

Eewww!

Yeah, it had non-coffee stuff floating in the top as well.

All down the drain and the mason jar into the dishwasher.

Daughter wants a coffee machine :man_facepalming:

Help! I’ve no clue as I prefer to mash teabags.

Spec: Easy to use, cheap, available from amazon or high st cos I’ve left it last minute.

Any ideas?

Kettle and beans.
Machines are what people say when they think you can get something that makes better coffee than the simple way.
Most machines heat water badly and pass it through grinds to produce pisswater.

What is she expecting or wanting, and what does she drink as a cup of choice?

Just buy her a cafetiere or an Aeropress and tell her to drink it black.
That will be as good as any machine under geek prices.

I bought Ms ICHM and my eldest one of these, makes good coffee, bean to cup machine, no faff and just works.

I have one of these I use daily.

Good questions

:+1:

Cheap to buy, fast and economical to run.

Yes they are good questions and it struck me very quickly that I had omitted to say that she is not a foo coffee geek, and is merely seeking to replicate something resembling a coffee shop latte etc.

Hmmm

Making coffee is easiest in a drip type holder or jug method.
Making frothy milk is not as simple. Unless you want to buy a machine with a decent boiler you won’t get much from a bargain entry model.
You need steam on tap and the cheaper machines fart hot air.

I’d counsel the status quo. Or spend the cash on decent beans/grind and use the simple pour over filters.
