Cricket, lovely cricket (Part 1)

Oh dear.
Not a good start

Fitting for Ben Stokes to play his final ODI in Durham. Chester-le-Street is a lovely ground.

Good to see Rashid back in the side, he’s been missed.

Looking like a good toss to win

SA schooling England on how to bat (and bowl) on a slow, low wicket.

Game reduced to 29 overs per side.

Looks a good batting surface, hopefully we’ll see plenty of runs.

Not from Roy though

That looked a good catch to me but this soft signal nonsense needs binning. How can the umpires make a call that will undoubtedly influence a very marginal decision - in real time - when the technology is going to be all over it.

Every time England open their shoulders, SA set a trap and they walk straight in to it.
Intelligent bowling, but I suppose England need to take risks to set a decent target

All of a sudden 200 looks a reasonable score!

Aye at 31-5 it’s still a long way to 202

England have been impressive with the ball and in the field but they need to sort a few batting issues out.

Well done England, but you can’t help feel that if England had batted like that there would have been all sorts of questions about their approach

Arguably the most fickle of sports on the planet … which makes for compelling viewing of course.

In case anyone is around, I have a spare adult ticket for the England-SA game at the Commonwealth Games next Tuesday (11am start.
