Cricket, lovely cricket (Part 1)

Certainly not the Windies

Iā€™ve been watching this test match. One of the best Iā€™ve seen and the innings from Perera has to go down as one of the greatest test knocks.

Amazing finish, the last wicket partnership was breathtaking.

^ Wow!

Some of the wryest cricket humour currently airing on iplayer/sounds.

The Universe Boss is retiring from ODIā€™s

Iā€™ve had so much enjoyment watching his limited overs performances

Shame he stopped playing tests! Fantastic talent and so strong. I watched him make a test century at The Oval in 2004, he smashed the ball to all parts against a very good England attack, it was fantastic to watch.

Heā€™ll be nearly 40 after the WC, so not completely unexpected. I guess heā€™ll still play T20 cricket though.

He seems to be able to hit a six to any part of the ground, nowhereā€™s safe

Some of the stuff heā€™s done in the IPL is hard to believe. 30 ball century and in the same game he scored 175 not out.

Might be worth giving Moeen an over at the start against Gayle.

Just seen a picture of the outfield - it looks very green. Will the OF be slow?

No idea, but if Gayle fires, he doesnā€™t use the outfield much, does he :smirk:

The pitch looks like a road, I expect weā€™ll see some big scoring.

360-8 from their 50 overs. It was looking like 400 at one stage.

Stokes the pick of our bowlers, Gayle 135 but dropped on 9 by Roy.

Flat wicket, so England will expect to get close. The start against the new ball will be key, if we get through the power play with no more than one down, we will be in the game.

Update - 88-0 from the power play. Very tidy.

What web coverage of this have you got Paul? BBC is text only.

Iā€™m watching it on Sky

Cracking century from Roy - can he open for the test team?

I suspect heā€™ll be considered.

Thatā€™s a fantastic knock, so far.

360 sounds a lot of runs in 50 overs, but on a flat pitch the exceptional England batting line up were always getting there. Cruised home.

Very good batting performance and showing why theyā€™re number one in ODIā€™s. I was disappointed with our bowling, but maybe that was just a one off.

Windies fielding was dire.

Same ground/pitch on Friday. If Windies bat first theyā€™d better make 400

Carry on Nurse

2nd ODI, England won the toss and are bowling. (WI 33-0 off 7.3)

Pitch looks similar (exactly the same ) as Wednesday. Like I said above, I reckon theyā€™ll need 400 to win :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

180 - 3 with 15 overs to go. Itā€™s not going to be 400. 330-ish?

England are bowling well. Unless the WI cut loose and have a bit of luck, I wouldnā€™t expect more than 310 to chase. You never know though, they have some big hitters to come, all depends if they get that slice of luck.

310 should be a stroll for England.
