Really like that
Iâd seen a couple of lamps from the seller previously on Etsy and missed out so this time I just thought fuck it.
Should be here tomorrow.
Weâre in the planning stages to refit the dreadful grey-eige en suite we inherited.
This is a joint effort of dubious taste, but the look weâre going for is definitely 1930s, and what Hel describes as influenced by a GWR waiting room chic so expect Edwardianâsyellow and green tiles, some wood bits and some blue and red accents.
Iâve started gathering bits, starting with this 30s jade green sink which Iâll mount on a brass washstand and find some antique brass taps for it.
If you like being triggered by other peopleâs horrific taste then stay tuned
Quite like the look of that but I really canât be doing with separate hot and cold taps again.
What colours you after?
Are you navigating the internet with a screen reader these days?
Whatâs one of those?
Thier website just seems a bit mad when on it I think. I just posted a link like usual.
A device that reads aloud the text on the screen.
Ah, no. You may think Iâm blind but no.
The one in the picture which Iâve bought. Next up to source is a brass wash stand for it to sit on.
Yeah, my post was mainly a joke as Iâd seen that toilet recently when looking at stuff for my bathroom and I thought of it when you listed those colours. I then noticed the similarity of the basin and I quite like the colours!
Iâm sure yours will look more tasteful though.
Isnât avacado back in fashion yet?
Yes. But thatâs 70s and weâre aiming at 30s.
I love that eau-de-nil shade personally, but I wish you the very best of luck matching the exact tone if youâre buying piecemeal: no two sets ever came out of the kilns precisely the same colour. OCD test incomingâŚ
OCD is for other people
Youâre right, itâs almost impossible to find a match so either donât sweat it or embrace a design which doesnât necessitate colour matching at all.
Itâs more important to find a loo that fits the period and within the overall design than get knotted up about things I couldnât really care less about.
Modern art deco shitters
A high level cistern would be in keeping, but I guess that limits choice somewhat?
A mid level separate cistern would be ideal. I suspect opportunity to colour match will be limited but canât be helped.
Ideally find one in a salvage yard as pretty much everything in this house has re-used materials with a few exceptions like plaster coving etc.
A salvage yard sounds like your best bet for sure
