Some of you with the same advanced years as me might recall the Forum, Cyrus Unofficial.
It dropped off in the same way as the WAM with the loss of years of friendships, technical detail and experienced related advice.
That’s the big shame of the demise.
Where that’s where I met @crimsondonkey , @Bolts, @jim and so many others at the first WAM shows that got me into here.

I didn’t see that bit; obviously wasn’t looking hard enough… What is there not to love about the word ‘cunt’ anyway? 
I get called a cunt at work sometimes. Much confusion is caused by my response because I agree with them. I am indeed a cunt and I have a badge to prove it!

I get a little offended when I see those twats moaning about the wild west ‘other place’
This place needs little moderation (ignoring catatonic and his flagging of pretty much every post ), there’s rarely aggressive arguments and any time a racist/homophobic/sexist twat has reared their head it is unanimously jumped on by all.
HXB and unsalted butter aside things get discussed well here. I actually saw a post on AV Forums where someone was asking for watch advice and they were directed to AA (by a username I didn’t recognise) “as that place is great for watches” they did caveat that the language can be a bit fruity though 
Quite proud of this place and it’s a nice little haven for support and chat (abuse)

Apart from classifieds I posted only on the photo forum, the Twitchers thread mainly, but not much recently as it was dying a death. Guess I’ll go on PFM from now on.
Sure do remember Cyrus Mick - seems like an age ago. Fun times on there with some epic trolls!

I’m assuming the swearing bit is a hang up from the old days when it had to be kept it check for advertising through google etc.
Not really sure why it’s an issue now, but Rabski did always operate 10-12 years in the past when it came to computer tech.

I seem to recall that was only implemented quite briefly as well - the advertising via Google didn’t generate a whole lot of income, and a lot of people got quite upset about the restrictions.

I think there were two different times.
one when JP switched on google words or whatever it was and it all imploded.
Then later after JP had sold the forum there was an increase in advertisers and that bought ain a regime against swearing. I am sure you would know better but I thought it was that plus some moderation issues that lead to the creation of this place?
Many things were going on but the main one were the incessant cryarses going on about bullying newbies, when in fact they meant themselves*
*even though they had been members for years and the reason they were having the piss ritually ripped out of them because they were self-important, pompous tryhards

There was definitely a tie-in between the google adverts and the swearing restrictions, as I was a mod at the time it was going on, and I was no longer a mod after the takeover.
