Cool. It’s some dinky Finemets I’ve ordered, £9/ea is OK by me.
Look at the prices on Mouser for ones suitable for OPTs. Make sure you’re sitting down.
I’m mebbe looking at the wrong things, but the priciest they show is £160, albeit that’s a middling size (F3CC0125), guess anything bigger would be a special order? Certainly seems sane when viewed in light of woo-capacitor prices, and I’d have thought the labour cost of actually winding the things would be the greatest expense?
I have some 300B OTX wound on nanocrystalline cores, need to listen to them
Mains Isolation Isolation Triodal Finemet 840VA 10.3Kg (22.7LBs) Open no case 200Ø, 110(H) $7,126
Ooof…
Dunno, I recall looking a while back, maybe it was the price of the nano that gave me a shock! Also remember you need 4 for a pair of double-C core transformers.
Oh aye, not cheap by any means!
Just had a look, and most of the F3CC are special order from Mouser. The ones you found might be ok for medium sized OPTs.
I had remembered them as being £350 or so, but maybe just my bad memory…
The Hitachi datasheet stops at the one I mentioned, so I suspect anything bigger is special order from Hitachi - you’re prolly looking at buying at least 100 at a time… Now THAT number would be scary…
But then…
Lol
I do sometimes wonder what my amps would have cost to produce now and whether that would have been prohibitive. (They are now over 10 years old).
The cost of most parts seems to have gone up way above inflation and if I remember correctly the exchange rate was about £1 = $2 when we had these transformers wound by Slagel. Even the Sowter mains transformers were special order.
Ouch
Except you didn’t pay 20% vat or whatever when you bought them, so it will only be the clearance fee extra.
Shush and let me moan, ruining things with your facts.
£12 processing fee.
At least you didn’t mention the Black Friday discount.
Is the pink fish discount code still valid?
Not sure but doubt you would get both discounts.
Long shot, but has anyone got a single or pair of BMS 4590 coaxial compression drivers they want to sell.
