Dan the builder’s new puppy got a bit overcited and fell off his wife’s lap, resulting in a broken elbow. Off he went to Bristol Animal hospital to have it fixed. Fortunately, Dan had £2k free insurance for 2 weeks when he had him chipped. The insurance paid out meaning it cost Dan £500. Dan now has proper insurance.

Now he’s properly insured, get Dan to get him checked for HIF (Springer-elbow) - Nev, our Springer smashed his elbow last year tripping over a rabbit-hole and was diagnosed after scans etc, so we had to have his other elbow pinned as a preventative measure (see further upthread). He’s right as rain now.

Dog food question. As my hounds got older, 7&9 yrs, they began to be less enthusiastic over a mainly dry kibble diet.

Switched to half that dry kibble mixed with Haringtons grain free wet. They love it but I’m aware that the meat content isn’t the best.

Any other suggestions? The meat pate chubs look to be better as an example.

Ruby has switched over to Tails at the moment but before I would give her dried food with half a tin of sardines in tomato sauce mixed in.
Recommended by someone on here.

Ruby has always been fussy but she loves that.

This is what Zak has, he really enjoys it.

Buddy loves a sardine mixed in with his dry dog food two or three times a week.

My two get sardines (in brine) once a week, 2 tins each mixed in with their pasta and veg.

They love it.

That’s great news Paul

Thanks Paul. It is good news and I’m very relieved that he doesn’t need an operation.

That said, the opthalmologist warned that Buddy may well suffer a recurrence in future due to poor adhesion between the layers of his cornea in both eyes. Equally though he may not. Just got to take it as it comes. Apparently it is a problem that can affect some dogs as they enter middle age.
