Stopped with some friends in Manchester during TT collection trip and spent some quality time with their dog Gus the Westiepoo. The heat was a bit much for him

Looking after SiL doggos while she takes another look at the house nearby she’s thinking of putting an offer in for.

This idiot won’t leave me alone

When Buddy woke up this morning he had an enormous lump on his head that had appeared overnight. He’s been to the vet and has been given two injections: steroids to reduce the swelling and antibiotics in case it has swollen up as a result of an insect bite rather than a head knock.

I’ve to go back today at 3.40 so the vet can see if the steroid has had the desired effect and reduced the swelling.

After the visit to the vet we went to the park and it’s clear that Buddy is feeling ok in himself. He behaved perfectly normally in the park, running from bush to bush at full tilt and going straight into every muddy puddle that he could find. That’s a relief because he did look a bit sorry for himself first thing this morning.

Law of the sod, we were at the vet yesterday for his vaccinations and annual check up!

Could it be a reaction to a vaccination?

I doubt it as he gets them every year but I’ll ask the vet when I go back later this afternoon.

I’ve been back to the vet and they now think it’s an abscess. It’s probably been caused by a splinter after he banged his head on a park bench on Saturday. It was a tiny bump between his eyes and only a very little blood. There was hardly any swelling at the site of the wound. He was playing ball with a friend who was looking after him while I was at the football.

Anyway, he’s getting a wee operation tomorrow morning to lance the abscess. Fingers crossed it all goes well.

That’s good news, the vet knows what it is, has a treatment plan and Buddy gets loads of cuddles and treats from the family. Private health care and spoilt rotten, what else can a dog ask for .

I forgot to post this photo to show how the swelling has changed since the steroid injection of this morning. It’s more focused on his head and less around his eye.
