Liz Truss launched a defence of her short-lived stint as prime minister, accusing those who blame her for “crashing the economy” of being either “very stupid or very malevolent”.
The former PM, whose tax-cutting mini budget helped wipe around £425bn from UK pension funds in 2022, said those who make the claim “are not telling the truth”.
In a Daily Telegraph interview to promote her new book Ten Years to Save The West, Ms Truss said: “The people who claim I crashed the economy are not telling the truth.
“They’re either very stupid or very malevolent. Because it’s clearly not true so they should be ashamed of themselves.”
Don’t know if that includes the real damage it’s done to people’s bank balances but my brother renewed his mortgage 2 years ago for 0.9% and my mortgage is 5.1%

My three year deal at 1.04% runs out in December. If I get anything under 4% I’ll be surprised. I estimate it will cost me around £400 extra a month.
One of my mortgages doubled thanks to this vapid embarrassment and the IEA. Seemingly her decisions were sufficient for her to get the boot or was that a mirage too?
Still cheaper than the 14% we had to pay in the early 80’s. Then again houses were considerably cheaper back then, even taking into consideration inflation.

Trump is counting on that now. No unbiased jury means even more delays, potentially leading to election time and his self-acquittal.

Thay have appointed 7 jurors already so things are moving along. I think they had allowed a week for jury selection.
In the US I think they just keep going until they have a jury, no chance of dragging it out for a mistrial.
