I don’t think they are in a position to do nothing. He has been inciting sedition for weeks and they can’t let that happen and go unpunished when it results in what happened yesterday.
The 25th would be the ideal scenario as it would be invoked by his erstwhile allies and colleagues. If they do that he will be kicked into touch by the Reps.
He could be made a sideshow as an independent hopefully.

I hadn’t realised that they can impeach and prevent him taking office again as part of that impeachment.
Mind you given that the majority of House Republicans voted against Boden just now and that hardly any of them have openly condemned Trump I can’t see it happening.
