I am not sure how this works in the US.
In the UK you can only appeal if there is new evidence that was not heard by the jury.

Something thatâs sadly getting a bit lost in all of this is just how remarkable it is for 12 ordinary people to reach that verdict given the circumstances.

Yes there are but appeals against sentancing are not appeals agaist the verdict.
In the UK an appeal because tge judge gave wrong legak guidance etc are extrememy rare.
Then again in the UK we have pretty strict separation between the judiciary and the legislature.
Unlike the US judges are not political appointees so allegations of bias etc are almost unheard of.
Makes appeals more likely in the US I guess.
