Donald Trump finally announced as some massive in-joke (Part 2)

We should probably bear in mind that Denmark has no more right to Greenland than (say) Britain does to India, and it’s only a mix of history and international lethargy that keeps the two united. With that in mind, should the orange shitgibbon annex it, I doubt Denmark would do a thing beyond protest it. Yurp certainly wouldn’t get involved.

There was a pretty big IF at the start of my post and I doubt we will see any ‘annexation’ by the US.
It was more a thought on how far Trump is prepared to split from Europe, how much he will ratchet up any perceived split between the UK and Europe (no trade deal unless …)
At the same time how that would look to Russia and what ‘opportunities’ they might see, especially if they don’t think the US has any skin in the game,

Of course Trump wanting Greenland has nothing to do with the vast reserves of rare earth metals and minerals etc

The bigger issue with Greenland is - can you really see Denmark going to wr with the US, even if the US did militarily invade Greenland?
Would the UN or NATO say ‘no’ to Trump over Greenland?
Of course, if the US did manage to get some sort of control there, the next thing would be a wholesale rape of the entire country for profit.

Never gonna happen though is it. Trump is full of bluster and bullshit. I’m pretty sure Denmark would have raped it in proper European style if there was anything worth acquiring over the past 200 yrs.

200 yrs ago the Danes weren’t interested in the rare elements that the place is full of.

I’m not so sure murcans want to loose their status of global super power to China. The tarriffs schtick (inc Panama) and resourse rich land grabs being promissed go some way to address the US’s dwindling power.
With Fossil fuels a finite resource Greenlands supposed 17.5 billion barrels of undiscovered oil and 148 trillion cubic feet of natural gas (Currently suspended due to climate change concerns) must seem rather tempting (along with their other yee harr mineral deposits)
…The race to the bottom of a very crude barrel.

I bet the joint chiefs are looking forward to fighting two simultaneous insurgencies.

Also, “Gulf of America”

This is what this is really about. Greenland’s ice cover and sea-ice is vanishing rapidly, and with everything from petrochem to rare-earths fast becoming more exploitable, Trump and his Parliament of Bitches is looking at the cash grab.

Worth recalling, too, that the US has had multiple military bases on Greenland, some of which are still skeleton-crewed, and one (Thule) being large and still very much active.

It could reasonably be argued that the US has as much right to Greenland as Denmark does: which is of course, none.

Trump is also both clumsy and utterly pig-ignorant. There’s a near certainty that he has no idea of the US’s history and ongoing involvement in places like Greenland - like most septics he couldn’t point to the place on a map - and has no clue that Denmark would cheerfully continue to work with the US on both Security and destroying Greenland for profit… They themselves are very far from squeaky-clean.

But why do things properly? Why let mere facts impede you when you can swagger, and posture, and bullshit instead? That’s what his mouth-breathing knuckle-dragging supporters love after-all…
