did @Kevin buy it?

You said you were thinking about buying it on sat and it’s now marked as sold.

No I didn’t. I just said I was suprised at the price 401s were going for, (even fettled ones)
I have no interest in owning a 401

Always fancied trying one of these -

Something like £3K new iirc.

Other priorities or I’d probably give it a punt.

Surprise

So it will sell to the underbidder? Or was that by any chance that pervasive ebayer, Mr Shill?

I think they have stopped that process.
Fraught with danger. You could shill up in increments until you over bid.
Then cancel the bid and place another just under the limit you found.

S.C.O is still an option. The item relists with a fixed price of the under bidder. The BIN is not included in searches nor in the list of the seller’s active listings

The seller is a nice bloke, loves his valves.

The fan on the valve cover could come under the heading of sketchy.

The live and neutral wires going in to the chocolate block would also be of concern to me.

Not surprised, they look great.

Just remember they were kit amps

I have a “reworked” KAT6550 here atm which I have been asked to look over :astonished:   :face_with_spiral_eyes:
It was purchased from the said same establishment…

Bought my AI second audio monos off him.

He has form, probably easier to work on than an M7 as well

Although (like South Africans) I’ve never met an EL34 amp I’ve liked.

Their el84 amp is nice. The 300b amps are good. As long as they are put together reasonably well. El34’s have the meh.

Kit amps from Emporium? If you have your brave pants on I suppose.

Ditto. A few EL84’s but never 34’s.
