Presumably if the battery setup is to kick in during power cuts they are putting in a switch to isolate the house from the substation so you are not feeding power back. Bit like the Powerwall Gateway does here in ecosmugland.

I’m not getting the power cut support. I enquired about it but it costs a ton of money to install. Daft really because the first thing you’d assume from a battery is that it would cover power cuts.

Yes, but not killing electricity repairers at substations does mean some proper kit to switch out the connection pretty swiftly. Back when we were looking there weren’t many options at all that could isolate your house.

It will also mean that your solar panels should shut off in a power cut as well if you don’t have a switch (but that is probably a setting built in to the inverter so that it switches off if there isn’t a mains voltage present).

its probaly a DNO cutout at your meter that usually costs a few hundred, if your house is not new or your fuseboard doesn’t have enough ways, they may need a subboard??hence an isolator to cut the load while it is installed
the g98 all mains inverters need to adhere to, will drop the solar load as soon as they detect low or no mains voltage

Eon will have qualified metering guys to do the isolator , your average electrician is not allowed to touch that part of the installation

Slight downside of solar panels in snow. Today’s generation? Zero.

And the thing about renewable energy is … you can run your tumble drier on it on hot sunny days when there’s plenty of wind .

Wonder how the (outsourced) administration of Bojo’s much hyped green scheme is going… anyone on here had a good outcome via this scheme?

I gave up on it. None of the window suppliers were signing up to it, and I actually want solar electricity rather than thermal really.

Edit: and I was entitled to the full £10k

The question then is whether it’s just incompetence or a deliberate setup

Yeah it’s tough to get quotes, the people signed up to the scheme are super busy. Then it’s the trouble of finding one who does all the bits you want to max the grant out. I’m on a 2 month wait for a company to quote for loft insulation, cavity wall and between the floor insulation. Plus anything else I can get under the scheme. Because they do literally everything on the scheme except windows and doors, they are rammed and busy.

Also as @AmDismal said, no solar other than heated water which wouldn’t work with our usage.

I’m led to believe PV will be on the next " version" certainly is this on the bigger social housing version 2 of green home grants

The issue is also supply of materials , a lot of firms are passing the opportunity as kit is in scarce supply, certainly from a heat pump point of view.

My neighbours air source heat pump started installation today.
I think the company is AOS Heating.
They use Mitsubishi I think.

Fingers crossed they’re not upwind of you .
